MARS, a leading international brand with more than a century of experience in confectionery and other food products, picked Softage over a number of competing vendors to perform a complete overhaul of the corporate SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system. The system had been used by MARS for years to track the movement of raw materials into the company’s many factories and monitor the output of finished products. With time, however, the system had aged and was no longer meeting the company’s growing demands.
Softage successfully refactored a huge amount of legacy code and created two major new components responsible for real-time tracking of raw materials and finished goods, as well as real-time data visualization and instant location of specific elements in the supply chain. The end result fully addressed MARS’s needs and gave new life to this business-critical piece of software.
